Child Help Foundation (India), a child-centric organization, works for the best interests of the child and constantly endeavors to empower women and children by making holistic education development and healthcare available to underprivileged communities. On March 22nd, 2018, the organization celebrated International Women’s Day with the underprivileged tribal teenage girls and women at Kanya Ashram Shala Sakur in Jawhar Taluka, Palghar District.
The event was graced by esteemed chief guests viz. Mrs. Amruta Devendra Fadnavis – the First Lady of Maharashtra, Collector of Palghar District - Dr. Prashant Narnaware (I.A.S), Ms. Pavneet Kaur (I.A.S) and Mr. Milind Borikar (I.A.S).
On the occasion, Child Help Foundation initiated a campaign to encourage menstrual hygiene by distribution of 70,000 sanitary napkins to underprivileged girls and women. In making the campaign a success, DonateKart helped the foundation in raising napkins on their online portal. Additionally, by collaborating with CHF, Happy Nari installed a Sanitary Napkin Vending Machine for tribal teenage girls and women in the predominantly tribal areas of Jawhar Taluka, Maharashtra. Further, there were advocacy sessions on menstrual hygiene by Dr. Anita Patil. All in all, the event proved to be a success by educating and training tribal women about ways to care about their menstrual hygiene.
